It is my own research and these rules below doesnt come from tradition:

1. Take the sign which is aspected by most number of malefics
2. See the position of benefics - they will protect

3. If equal then see the one influenced by 6th or 8th lord

4. See also the position from Arudhapada and Mrtyupada

Sa (among others dual) aspects Gemini which is 2nd from AL and occupied by A8.

Other signs are protected by benefics.

1. Taurus (2)
2. Gemini and duals (Mithuna gets the strongest aspect as its Vargottama, Mithuna has also graha drsti along with Pisces, but Pisces has Venus) (2)
3. Leo (2) (but with Jupiter)

Among them Gemini is aspected by 8th lord - Throat Cancer ( Gemini). Here Taurus is equally dangerous, Ketu is in Mithunamsa.

Mithuna (and other dual) influenced by 2 malefics (with 6th lord) in papakartari.

Among the dual signs, Mithuna is most afflicted and with 6th lord in 3rd from AL and kona to A8.

There are two signs: Tula and Mithuna, among them Mithuna is in 3rd from AL and has A8.
